Videoing for New Curriculum
Yesterday and today at St. Brigids NS, students were being recorded for a teacher training video on the new language curriculum beginning next year. Beginning in September, primary school students from 3rd-6th class will start learning an extra language such as Spanish, German or French. This will help to prepare them for secondary school and also further help with their mind development.
Yesterday, the senior room were recorded doing a number of language related activities such as skipping to Irish learning songs and finding links between languages. They had a look at language trees and spotted how some languages were very similar and were able to figure out why some languages looked so different.
Today, the junior room are being recorded as to further their understanding of languages even though they won’t be learning anything other than English and Irish it’s good for them to do this.
