Water Quality Testing in the King's River
8th Apr 2025
This week we participated in Globe Ireland's water quality campaign. They kindly supplied us with the equipment and we went down to the King's River to perform some experiments. We then came back to school and wrote a comprehensive report detailing our findings. Caleb (3rd Class) did a great report and you can find it below.

I'm doing a report on water quality.
Water quality is just basically how polluted the river is.
Today me and the class went down to the kings river to see how polluted it is so we did some tests and we got
- 10.2 temperature ‘C
- 6.3 PH a measure of how acidic/basic water is
- 1.0 nitrate a chemical compound that includes nitrogen and oxygen
- 0.2 phosphate a form of acid made of phosphorus
So did all that to get that not too bad right? Well I don't know if it's drinkable so I will leave the water alone (sink water not included) so I think our results were pretty good and showed the river is healthy.
Did you know that?
Every year, more people die from unsafe water than from all forms of violence, including war.
